FAQ´s

Individual requests are welcome - I look forward to the opportunity to work with you

If you have any questions regarding procedure, selection, production process, etc., please contact me by phone or e-mail and I will reply as soon as possible.

In order to be able to give you a price range and availability/feasibility as quickly as possible, I need information about your desired project such as size, style/finish, desired type of wood or already the number of a suitable blank from my wood store. If you are unsure, simply call/email me and we will find out together.

You have only me as your contact person for all matters during the entire time. If I should ever be unavailable, I work with a small but excellent network of experienced, competent and reliable partner companies who will take over and complete the job.

What is special about my tables?

First and foremost is you as my customer with your wish, which I have set myself the goal of fulfilling. To this end, I have specialized in (unglued) individual pieces made from one or two parts. About 95% of the solid wood I use comes from regional sources and is usually sawn by me or us on site. I tell you everything I can find out about the logs - for an all-round clear conscience. I draw from several wood sources - including very exclusive ones, whose woods you will only find with me and which are unique in this size and shape, as well as sometimes the type of wood itself, which is often not available in the trade. Furthermore, my wood is usually slowly pre-dried in the air for many years before processing and only when it is “mature” enough it is placed in the obligatory drying chamber. Only then i will start production.

I manufacture exclusively by hand in my table factory in Leinfelden near Stuttgart.

You can choose the blank for your dream table at my stock and/or we can find your future dream table based on photos, videos etc. Each table production is recorded on video, which I also give you as a gift at the end.

You will receive regular status reports on each project (with photo and/or short video).

Each unusual table receives my brand number in the form of a solid brass plaque with a unique number (unless you don't want this).

Which woods are used and where do they come from?

The most common regional woods are maple/mountain maple, oak, red beech, ash (mostly olive ash), walnut and Douglas fir. There are also some unusual pieces of e.g. pear, birch, European walnut, sycamore tree, sequoia, ... and a single trunk of a cucumber magnolia and a Japanese string tree. These pieces generally come from private gardens, parks and the forest in the Stuttgart, Nuremberg and Rottenburg region and are usually sawn up by us on site.

Bark on the trunk - my opinion:

Better/rather not......on the one hand because it always crumbles off at some point and on the other hand because you can easily get caught with clothing (e.g. wool)....

Can we choose a blank?

Yes, that's even the ideal case, because you can only really see the piece in the original, you can't do that as well with a photo/video...but photos/videos etc. are a good alternative, especially for long distances.

How does it work with the bases?

On request, I can provide the customer with a list of addresses of manufacturers on whose websites they can find a large and beautiful selection (from beautiful standard to absolutely unique items). Alternatively, I can suggest/ customize the base frames.

How do you treat the surfaces?

There are now many very good surface products from various companies on the market. I generally work with organic pur solid hard oil from Auro (preferably no.123) and also with hard wax oils from Osmo for resin applications.

How do you care for the table?

a) Oiled solid wood tables can be refreshed with Auro PurSolid Hard Oil No.123 and Worktop Oil No.108 (pursolid) or with the water-based Maintenance Oil No.106.

The floor milk from Naturhaus is also very suitable for this purpose

b) For solid wood tables treated with hard wax oil, I recommend wax-based care - e.g: Auro Furniture Intensive Care No. 662

What costs/invest should we expect?

Side and normal coffee tables approx. 1,300 - 4,800 EUR gross

Large to huge coffee tables from approx. 3,500 - 9,800 EUR gross

Table tops (without base) made from 2 large planks from 5,800 EUR gross

Unique table tops (without base) from approx. 7,000 EUR gross

How long does a table like this last?

Actually forever, the better you look after it, the longer it will stay beautiful. You can also refinish the surface, even several times, as it is solid wood.

How does delivery work?

Delivery, including assembly, is currently carried out by myself or by us and agreed individually. Collection by the customer is of course also possible, but I arrange very long distances and delivery to other countries individually - this would be handled by a forwarding agent.

I also deliver to Switzerland by forwarding agent.
