We are constantly looking for logs

This project by Roland & Christin Zöllner-Köllner is a very large oak dining table made from two single huge pieces of solid oak.
For this project, we were able to contribute two extraordinary oak planks from our stock. These were “sister planks” from the same trunk, sawn radially from the middle of the trunk, which makes the medullary rays really stand out. We milled these two pieces flat beforehand. The rest of the work (filling the cracks with hard wax, side treatment, sanding and oiling), including assembly, was all carried out by the customer. The special thing about the assembly was that these two pieces were screwed to the frame individually. And the customer could not have done a better job with the alignment, i.e. the “fitting together” of the two parts.
The table is approx. 350 cm long and 110 cm wide. The uniquely beautiful and unusual base frame was made by the customer himself and really accentuates this huge table top.
I can say - without exaggerating - that it is the absolute centerpiece of this equally extraordinary room.
