Herrmann Massivholz - independent Stuttgart table manufacturer for handmade unique tables and counters with its own regional wood trade. Production takes place exclusively at the Leinfelden site near Stuttgart. The central warehouse is also located here.

The special thing about Herrmann Massivholz is the wood with proof of origin from which I create these extravagant unique pieces and my or our way of “extracting wood”. As a rule, the wood comes from the region and was sawn by me or ourselves on site (sometimes we felled the tree first). I only process special individual trunks that usually have to be felled due to age/hazard or construction work and store the wood slowly in the air for many years before it goes into the drying kiln. If the log is worth it, we spare no effort to get it out of very difficult terrain - often without the use of machines and often physically demanding. This is how many “treasures” have come to me.

I also (with a few exceptions) don't do classic gluing work, but work with a single piece or a maximum of two pieces.

Highest quality and transparency is the basis - individual craftsmanship in perfection is the claim - beauty and luxury the passion.

"because our wood is far too valuable"

It was a long way until then. I originally have my background in the timber industry, I have a degree in timber management. However, it took me many years and many detours to find my way back to wood. Most of this time was spent in the automotive industry, including many years abroad. When the company was founded in 2014 - parallel to my professional activities at the time - I was one of the first professional contract cutting providers with mobile chain sawmills in Germany (therefore the website name...mobilsaege-bw...). Tree felling was added shortly afterwards. As a logical consequence, the timber trade for regionally harvested and self-sawn fine and rare solid woods developed from this. I often work together with my namesake as a partner. His background is in electronics and he has several businesses related to house construction/renovation.

Since about 2020, my focus has been on table manufacturing for handmade unique table & countertops, which I sell exclusively directly under the brand “Herrmann Massivholz” and manufacture in Leinfelden near Stuttgart. As I “nurture and care for” and document the wood from the very beginning, you can be sure that you will only receive mature, seasoned wood, including proof of origin. In addition, I always check the moisture content of the wood again before placing the order and, if necessary, dry it again in my own or external drying chambers. My regional wood selection is probably unique, especially the many individual pieces, even in oversize. I have already had customers from Belgium, Holland and Austria come to me for this. I also have many material options that can be combined with wood, such as steel, glass, hard wax and epoxy resin. The surface remains natural, but I make it robust and easy to clean. Each table comes with a certificate of origin (sometimes also the history) and a production video. My customer has only me as a contact person.

The story of Patrick Herrmann's

Sometimes there really are funny coincidences. The story of Herrmann Massivholz is no exception. Because there are two Herrmanns at work here, same first name and surname, same age and we also live in the same part of town. Patrick Herrmann (“the shorter one”), a Franconian from Nuremberg and the other (“the longer one”) a Swabian from Stuttgart. We got to know each other many years ago in Stuttgart when the postman delivered a parcel to the “wrong one”. We always work together as a solid team when felling trees and doing large sawing jobs. So far, I (“the shorter one”) only make the tables and Patrick helps out when needed.

Our passion is the natural material wood, from which these exclusive individual solid wood tables and bar counters are made by hand. I sell these directly under my brand “Herrmann Massivholz”.

Regionally harvested wood which we saw up ourselves with our mobile sawmills forms our basis. We save trees - especially the old ones - that are usually “disposed of” from ending up as woodchippings and saw them up ourselves. This allows us to determine the form of later use right from the start. These pieces form the basis for the exclusive table tops and bar counters. Old trees in particular have cracks, knots and “flaws”, but this is what gives these pieces their charm and character. I incorporate these into the respective design of the piece and refine them with epoxy resins, whereby the focus is always on the natural beauty of the wood, which comes into its own.

It is also important for me to find out the origin of the tree and, if researchable, the history of the tree and to record it, which I give to the customer as a gift together with a production video.
