Poplar
Poplar wood is a type of wood that is often unfairly underestimated for high-end furniture making and one-of-a-kind tables. Poplar wood combines sensational lightness with good toughness—it has an extremely low density and is as light as a feather. This makes it easy to transport and assemble even an exceptionally wide and thick tabletop. Nevertheless, the wood is surprisingly tough and does not splinter at all.
It’s also perfect for epoxy resin work, creating a breathtaking contrast. Very wide planks from old poplar trees are quite rare to find, and those that have been seasoned for many years are even rarer.
