The wood of douglas fir  (Pseudotsuga menziesii) takes an exceptional position. It combinates the best properties of soft- and hardwood. The origin is North-America, but meanwhile it´s natural element also in europe.

Because of it´s strong weather resistance it´s predestinated for outdoor use such as garden tables, decks but also for interior use.

1.Physical properties

Great weather resistance. The heart wood of douglas fir has an high resistance against fungul growth and insects. You don´t need chemical wood protection even for outdoor use and it will last a ling time.

It´s highly rigid, bearing, stable and shockresistant, these are also perfect properties for a use as a table or construction-wood, especially outside.

The wood has an impressive warm red-brown coulour and the heartwood is getting darker over the years, what makes the appearance even more noble. The contrasting sapwood area is creme-white to light yellow.

The grain shows a strong difference between the cremewhite sapwood and red-brown heartwood and lively striped texture.
