Blood beech from 1860
The following pieces are from a copper beech planted in 1860 in a landscape garden in Stuttgart-Hohenheim. It had to be felled due to severe fungal infestation for reasons of danger, which was carried out on Monday, February 26, 2024. This natural monument was gigantic. Unfortunately, the main trunk with a diameter of approx. 115 cm could no longer be used as it was too badly damaged. However, we were able to obtain two very strong pieces from the first branches. On the first day of sawing (on site) we were able to obtain slices with a diameter of up to 130 cm and table blanks measuring approx. 160 x max. 106 cm. The wood is now in storage and will be pre-dried in the air for at least 4 years before we process it ourselves. However, it can also be purchased.
