This bar dining table was a commissioned piece and is an absolute highlight. It is made from a single large piece of spalted European walnut, which I was able to mill myself in 2017 in a private garden near Stuttgart. This was the last and largest piece from the main trunk. As this piece was extremely twisted and cracked, I had to dig deep into my “bag of tricks” to be able to make a bar dining table out of it without the tabletop ending up too thin. To do this, I used transparent epoxy resin (for the underside) and black epoxy resin to fill all the cracks on the top. The base was custom-made in close consultation with my customers, with stability and legroom being particularly important requirements in addition to the shape. It is made of solid 1/2 inch thick raw steel sheet that has been powder coated in transparent for rust protection. The work took a total of 10 weeks, including a coffee table made from the same tree trunk, which was also produced as a combination order with black epoxy resin and a subtle gold inlay. The extremely complex surface treatment of these two individual pieces alone took almost two weeks. The size is about 8,2 feet x 28 x 1,8 Inches.
