Made to Last for Generations: Why a Patrick Herrmann Table Is a Timeless Investment.

In a world of fleeting trends and a throwaway mentality, I am committed to radical durability. A one-of-a-kind table from my Stuttgart workshop is a purchase for life, an heirloom for the next generation.

For a clear conscience, sourced locally

While the furniture industry transports millions of metric tons of wood of dubious origin around the globe, I follow a different, deeply rooted path.

Regional sourcing: My wood comes (with very few exceptions) from private gardens, parks, and the forests around Stuttgart, Rottenburg, and Nuremberg.

Transparent proof of origin: Since we sometimes fell the trees ourselves (due to age-related hazards and necessary construction work) and usually cut them on-site, I can even document the origin with photos and videos. The origin of wood from other sources (e.g., the forestry office) is documented. With every table, you’ll receive a complete “biography” of the tree—now also in the form of a production video.

Respect for the resource: A tree that has grown for centuries deserves to be treated with reverence, in keeping with the slogan “Because our wood is far too valuable.”

The Value Equation: Quality That Matures Over the Years

A genuine monolith or tree-trunk table by Patrick Herrmann is like a fine red wine or an exclusive work of art: it gains character over time.

Stress-Free Aging Period:
Since we saw the logs ourselves and gently air-dry the planks for many years to slowly release any residual tension, the wood is completely “mature.” It hardly moves at all, no longer warps, and remains dimensionally stable.

“Infinite” Repairability:
Solid wood has the privilege of eternal youth. Should scratches or signs of wear and tear appear after decades of intensive use with family and friends, the surface can be refinished many times, and the table will return to its original condition.

Investment Value or Resale Value: My Perspective on This…
A Mercedes AMG, for example, loses about 30% of its value—or even more—after just one year. It’s certainly nice to own one, but this has nothing to do with investment value.
A one-of-a-kind table by Patrick Herrmann is a truly unique piece, featuring an elegant brass plaque that documents its unique serial number. It is not normally intended to be resold, but rather to be passed down through generations, allowing it to gain in character and charm over time. Any potential resale value is determined by the market at the time. In the case of a one-of-a-kind piece made from a rare or historic tree from a castle garden, the chances are particularly good that the original value may even increase.

A priceless value that cannot be bought anywhere
As an example, I’d like to mention a couple of lawyers whose late grandfather’s walnut tree we felled in their garden, sawed on-site, and which will now be allowed to dry and mature for years before I transform it into a breathtaking dining table. The childhood memories and the soul of this tree will live on in the dining room.
That is true luxury: owning a piece of furniture that has a real soul, whose story you know personally, and at which your grandchildren will one day sit.
