Unique Dining Table No. TP75
Walnut is one of the most exclusive hardwoods in existence. The wood for this dining table comes from an American walnut tree in Karlsruhe, Germany, and features a truly unique and extraordinary color—it combines a luxurious play of colors ranging from brown to deep brown walnut with hints of purple and red, reminiscent of an aged red wine.
My client selected three beautiful planks from this log right here in my workshop in Leinfelden near Stuttgart; together, we then finalized the design, and the “rest” was meticulous, labor-intensive handwork that took about 5–6 weeks. The final surface treatment alone takes about 2 weeks—that is, oiling all sides until the wood is saturated, including intermediate sanding—which ultimately provides very strong protection and makes this table ready for use. Three steel reinforcing strips were also milled into the underside, which (although not strictly necessary here due to the wood’s long storage and drying period) further ensure dimensional stability. For the base frame, my client chose a cross-braced frame made of black powder-coated steel.
