I was commissioned to make this exclusive, unique piece for a young couple from Stuttgart. It was made entirely by hand in my table factory in the south of Stuttgart.

The wood is extremely unusual. It's a stocked walnut and comes from a private garden near Stuttgart. The owner thought the wood was far too good to “dispose of” and when she searched the Internet for a solution to her problem, she came across us. I was then able to saw the trunk on site into large planks and slices and transport it away in 3 long days and a lot of work - so she had also saved herself the expensive disposal, a “win-win” situation.

The table is approximately 240 x 100 x 4.5 cm in size and consists of two single large and wide center planks from this trunk, which were fitted together on the inside using the original tree edge, while the tree edge was worked out on the outside. The surface is impregnated several times with biological hard oil.

In my central warehouse in Leinfelden near Stuttgart, the young couple were able to choose the wood at their leisure and in several meetings, and we then decided together how the table should be made. As the wood was warped, I had to dig deep into my “bag of tricks” and made areas that were too thin thicker with transparent resin. The cracks were filled with black resin. The result left me speechless, the beauty that emerged is breathtaking....
