This is a key table made from an extreme piece of burl poplar. The wood comes from my Dtuttgarter wood shop for solid wood from the region, and we had already made coffee tables in this style. This table, however, was made by Raphael Rappaport from our partnership with Rappaport Manufaktur; the steel base is Rappaport's own design/idea. The most difficult decision was probably what should be at the top and what at the bottom. The grain on the outside looks like a mountain landscape, the grain on the flat side looks like a “golden” surface with lots of “cat's paws” ....
Raphael from Rappaport Manufaktur then opted for this variant. A steel plate in the same shape as the top was laser-cut and powder-coated black as the base. The frame is also a completely custom-made product and was also manufactured in the shape of the blank. The version with the glass top was then chosen for the top, which was also adapted to the shape of the wooden top.
The result is absolutely spectacular. Originally there were two of these burl poplar pieces. One is still in my wood shop in Leinfelden near Stuttgart.
