We were able to saw this huge and unique oak trunk in Lohn, Bavaria, on April 11, 2025. This oak tree stood in an open field and had died, which is why it was felled. On that day, we were able to obtain several large to very large discs from it, in addition to many huge oak planks (ideal for unique table tops). However, by far the largest piece was sawn freehand from the “head piece,” where many large branches had branched off. The dimensions are gigantic—the smooth side toward the trunk has a diameter of about 160 cm, and the upper “head side” has a diameter of up to 200 cm. This piece is ideal as a unique dining table and conference table, for example, at the managing director or board level. The block is about 60-90 cm thick. Ideally, this piece should now be left to pre-dry in the air for at least three years before being placed in a drying chamber.
