The wood used for this bar table is certainly one of the most unusual you can find, an absolute rarity. It is an old cucumber magnolia tree that stood in a university garden near Stuttgart and was cut down by me years ago. This is now the first project made from this trunk. The color and grain are simply sensational. This bar table (or sideboard with a lower frame) is about 2 m long, 30-40 cm wide, and 4 cm thick. The small cracks were filled with black resin. The surface has been impregnated several times with a biological hard oil, making it robust and easy to care for. When light hits it, certain areas of the wood shimmer like waves in the sea.
